iSeries ERDSQL TCP/IP Server

We have installed E1 8.11 8.95_C1. We were not able to process UBEs until the ERDSQL server was started on the iSeries. I was told this by a consultant, but can not find any documentation on it.

Anyone have any official doc that backs this up?
