Host Name Resolution

Can anyone tell me how the jde clients/servers resolve the host names to IP addresses? Do they use DNS, WINS, something else...?

JDE doesn't resolve host names...........the operating system does.

For Win NT 4.0......WINS
For Pure Active Directory.........DNS

Best practices are to configure local HOST files for all servers (NOT LMHOST. This is critical for web. Make sure you have both the netbios name and the FQDN (jdeweb and jdeweb.company.com)

Also make sure all servers are in the DNS. You can check this using DNS
