Data only Migration from XE to EO8.9

Our existing setup is ONEWORLD XE with SP 21 & Update 7
Our database is 8.7.1.2

We have planned migration on EnterpriseOne 8.9

We have decided to have complete separate installation of EnterpriseOne8.9 on different servers for testing purpose.

We want to migrate the existing XE production data (Business data - proddta, control tables - prodctl ) on Test server for use of EnterpriseOne 8.9, so then only we can have meaningful testing of 8.9

So this would be only database migration (from XE to EO 8.9) on Test server, how this can be achieved?

Thanks in Advance

What DB are you usine it loks like it is Oracle. If it is why no just do an Export of the data from your live PROD and the import the data to the new installation DB. This will be the easiest and simplest way to do it in my opinion.

it is not data transfer on same version. problem is trasferring XE data to Eneterprise One 8.9

Yes correct, wanted to transfer XE data on different test
installation of EO 8.9 (Database - Oracle)

An unrelated question - Why do you want to go on 8.9 and not 8.10..? I'd say 8.10 is a lot more stable than 8.9 or may be other listers can provide some input on that.

Now when you say different set of servers would that include the deployment server also..?

You could use the same deployment server with a snapshot ( messy but works if done properly) or use a seperate deployment server ( requires some setup).

Since 8.9 requires Oracle 9.2 and above you would first need to setup an Oracle 9 database on your new test server and then import the PRODDTAT,PRODDTAI,PRODCTLT and PRODCTLI tablespaces from your existing setup. Perform what ever steps are needed from the Oracle side to ensure a successfull conversion of data from Oracle 8 to 9.

Setup a custom environment to point to this data set. Perform a data only upgrade for this environment as per steps given in the upgrade guide. Your new test server would be setup as the Enterprise Server for your 8.9 setup

There are more variations of the above approach but hope this gives a basic idea

Thanks for your suggestion.
The reason for going on 8.9 is due to non-availability of INDIA LOCALIZATION on letter versions. Test installation is completely on different severs including the deployment server. As it is just for testing (EO8.9 new functionalities) we preferred for installing the EO8.9, and now just loading the data from XE. Option looks to be workable of creating oracle users of XE(proddta, prodctl) importing the data, then creating the custom environment pointing towards these data sources, and then doing the data only upgrade as given in the manual
