Windows 2003 with Visual C++ 6?

Hi,

We're looking at the addition of a Intel UBE/Logic Server to our existing configuration (iSeries Enterprise Server - E1 8.10 / Tools 8.93_R1). The MTR documents now specify Windows 2003 with Visual C++ 6. We had a Server configured with Windows 2003 but our Server team tells us the Visual C++ 6 installation would not work/run. Unfortunately, don't have any more information on this and the Server since got rebuilt with Windows 2000.

However, it would be useful to know if you have setup something similar recently with Windows 2003/Visual C++ 6?

Thanks/Best Regards,

Sanjeev

Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition + VC 6.0. No issues here.

Sanjeev,

Your server team is incorrect. Visual C++ 6.0 works fine on Windows 2003. We've been running it that way for over a year. I would push the issue and get them to install Windows 2003. Windows 2000 is nearing the end of it's run. It's not a lot of fun to upgrade a production server's Operating System. Attached is a screenshot in case they are skeptical.....

SBS 2003, XE Standalone and C++ 6.0 - not an issue...

Your Server Techs need to be more descript on "what doesn't work".

Re: Windows 2003 with Visual C++ 6? - THANKS

Thanks for all your replies! I'm convinced now and yes we will get the server rebuilt <again!> with Windows 2003.

Best Regards,

Sanjeev
