Recording hazardous substances in purchased parts for Reporting

Under impending ROHS and WEEE (hazardous materials dispostion) legislation in Europe (and presumably in the near future in the US)we will need to be able to provide our customers with a detail breakdown of the amount of hazardous material in our products. EG how many milligrams of lead in the solder. Since we purchase the material containing the hazardous substances, the amount of each substance is not recorded anywhere in JDE. We would need to enter it somewhere from the Certificate provided by the supplier. Has anyone identified a way to include the chemical composition of purchased materials in either the Item Master or the BOM, or elsewhere? The intent is to be able to issue a Certificate of Waste Materials Compliance (comparable to a Certificate of Analysis) directly from JDE World. If someone has found a third party product that could be linked to JDE instead of including this info in JDE, that could also be helpful.

We cheated a bit and added the break down in the catalog field of the item master - in our case we had to report VOC for mixes that we produced- (we needed to report emissions) -we then parse out the information - you could put it out to a report ( We used a Word overlay for Certs. It looks like the screen shot below

4101 Item Master Information Item Number - Short. 34743
