Question on item cost revision

We are using standard cost method. Sometimes users forgot to input item cost in
the Item Master . Is there a way to control so that there would not be zero cost
during cost revision?

You could utilize the engineering change system and establish an approval
routing that included your cost accounting group. It would not prevent
zero-cost items, but it would assign responsibility.

You can set processing options so that the Cost Revisions screen
automatically appears when a new item is added. Of course, that doesn't
ensure that someone will actually enter data! You might consider putting an
edit rule on the field such that the quantity must be greater than zero, but
that would apply to all cost methods defined. As a fall-back position,
create a list showing items with standard cost = 0 so that they can be
quickly caught and corrected.
