Believe it or not I've seen something like this before. Are you using Compaq
hardware and drivers? Check your NT event log on the Enterprise server and
the deployment server for Redirector errors. Also check the same on the
package build machine. If you have any of these errors or just as a
precaution I would upgrade to the latest versions of Network drivers and
firmware. Are these errors very inconsistent? Do you get the error on the
same spec file all the time or do the errors occur on different spec files?
Also have you installed the secret one off service pack for anyone using
Oracle 8.1.6 (may not be necessary if you're on SP14.1 or 14.2 - can't
remember which one). This fix sets the number of prefetched rows to zero and
slows down the fetch somewhat. Oracle has fixed this problem with OCI in
8.1.7.1.
