which version of VC++ should I use for E1 8.10

Hi,
Could anyone knows which version of VC++ should I use for E1 8.10 packaging on Enterprise Sever on Windows 2000?
According to the software requirement guide, I should use Visual Studio.NET; but the installation guide of E8.10 told me to use VC98(also called VC6, right?)!

Currently we use visual c++ 6.0 with the last SP ( presume it's the 6). And it's work.
