Issues with using Deployment Server for Media Objects?

What are the downsides of using the Deployment server to host Media Objects? I have heard arguments against using the Deployment Server as the host, I'm just looking for further information on either supporting this claim, or denying this claim.

Thanks,
Alan

Hi Alan,

I think there are two downsides : If you turn off Deployment Server, Media
Objects won't be online; and they may eventually take lots of disk space.

Thanks for the fish, Alan

Alan,

We've always had our Media Objects on our Deployment Server (B733.1, B733.3 and now 8.9). I suppose if you'll be rebooting your Deployment Server often, that would be disruptive to your users' ability to access media objects. Otherwise, I'd see it as a chance to utilize a typically under-utilized machine -- your deployment server.

My two cents.
