8.9/8.10 Solution Explorer Issues

After a successful run (?) through Customer Connection, I want to check a couple of things out related to the integration of Solution Explorer to Xe Roles. In Xe, I used roles to determine menu access exclusively.

In setting up our 8.10 test environment, we ran the proscribed UBEs which were to merge the Solution Explorer roles to the standard JDE security. An example role in XE is DI0040 for our Purchasing Staff; the purchasing staff is also part of the Purch-DI group.
After running the 8.10 merge programs, I find that the "role" DI0040 is no longer attached to the task views that we created, but it is now the Purch-DI group that is attached to the purchasing task views.

My questions are:

IS there any documentation in Customer Connection which covers roles and tasks (I opened a case, and a consultant came back with nothing after a 3 hour search);

Are the results that I encountered what should happen after the 8.9/8.10 role merge?

If not, does anyone have tips to get this merge to behave properly?
