Variations between stock and G/L

Hello together
Since we went live in 2002 we have big variations between stock and G/L postings.

The standard cost change seems to be one of the biggest problems.

We are very interested, if there are other companies with such problems using OneWorld.
Which reporting tools are you using to check this integrity?

Here some details from our system:

- B7333, SP20, V2 on DB2, AS400.
- We do standard cost changes, even if the items are in an open purchase-, sales- or production order.

We appreciate any help.

This subject is one of my 'hobby horses'. I cannot emphasise enough how important it is to keep the inventory system in sync with the G/L.

Unfortunately there are no easy answers. At a number of places I have developed very specific UBEs that test every cardex transaction in comparison with G/L and vice versa.

A couple of comments wrt standard cost changes though:
* Always run R42950 after any cost change to refresh open sales orders
* Always run R43990 after any cost change to refresh open purchase orders
* Always run R31802 /R31804 Before making standard cost changes.
* Never post journals directly to inventory accounts, unless you are correcting an integrity issue.
* Run R41542 /R41544 on a regular basis to keep F41021 and F4111 in sync

Hope this helps,

Rgds,
