Deploying server packages in live environment

Hi all,

Until now part of my procedure for deploying full packages to batch
servers has been to make sure no batch jobs run while the package is
being deployed. Failure to do this results in a failed package
deployment, and leaves the server code in an indeterminate state.

Recently, I have heard that this problem can be overcome by stopping the
"JDE Update 4 B733 Queue" service, then deploying the package. Batch
jobs that are already running continue without problems, new jobs can be
submitted but will not start, and the package deploys successfully. A
test seems to show this working, but before changing procedures I'd like
to canvas opinions and experiences.

What are your opinions about this? Can you confirm it is a suitable
procedure change, or can you recommend against it?

Thanks in advance,
