Trying to setup role based security for a move from Xe to 8.9???

I am one of those sad souls just now trying to learn about role/task relationships for a move from Xe to 8.9. In theory, I would like to have the new security setup and tested in Solutions Explorer before we even begin the upgrade.

Unfortunately, it looks as if PSFT retired most of the Xe documentation before the actual software. Can anyone email me an old JDE guidethat explains how to assign tasks to roles. I found one reference in the KG to a "Solution Accelerator Suite Implementation Guide" that is supposed to explain this...but it is no longer available.

I found the P95921 for Users/Roles relationships...but can't seem to find a way to start assigning tasks to roles.

Here is a thumbnail sketch of the process.


Task View Creation and control



To create new task views;

On the OneWorld main screen, select tools and add task view
Assign the task view a number
Add a task view name – This is what appears under the task view toolbar
Add a task view description
Click on the role based task view
Click OK to save



To add tasks to a task view;

Under Task View Explorer, select OneWorld Menus
Find task group you wish to copy
Right click on the task grouping you wish to add
Select Send to
Select the new task view from the selection window
Change the radio button to ‘copy this task and all it’s children’
Click OK to save



You can add as many task groups as you desire to the new view. Be sure to check each option to ensure appropriateness of the choices under the group. If there are items you wish to delete, right click on the item and delete the relationship. This removes the task from this view only, not the original.





To assign a role to a task view:

Right click on the task you wish to change. Note: this cannot be a task view
Select Task Revisions. A new screen will appear
Select Form from the toolbar
Select Roles. A new screen will appear
Click Find. One or more tasks should display. Double click on the task you desire to change
Find the roless you want to remove access to and deselect by double clicking on the left most column cell next to the task.
Click Close to exit the screen
Click Cancel to the Task Explorer.
