SP22

I am getting ready to apply SP22_X1 to our environment. We are currently on SP20_F1 OW Xe and Update 7

Enterprise Server: AS400 V5R1 with Logical Partitioning (PD on Primary Partition and DV & PY on Secondary). Call them ENT1 (Security server) and ENT2

Deployment Server: NT
Terminal Server and mostly CITRIX clients

Applying SP22_X1 would change the Password Encryption Method only if I apply JD21799 before or after the SP install. Correct?
Currently Helpdesk or SysAdmin can change/reset password anyway, so why will I need to apply JD21799. This is just a thought.
My question is, has anyone experienced any problems without applying the SP22 in conjunction with ESU JD21799?

We just upgraded a client to SP23_C1 and our understanding was that the encryption change will be there in the service pack and that the ESU is absolutely required in order for the security application and tables to be able to function correctly after the service pack is rolled out.
From the one-off notes: "failure to apply the ESU concurrently may prevent you from using your database files."
Be sure you back everything up prior to doing the Service Pack.

You must implement the ESU as per the instructions - JDE changed the encryption process on the F98OWSEC - it has nothing to do with whether you can change passwords or not - but in the way that internally JDE handles the encrypted passwords.

Follow the instructions through carefully - SP22 works real well (we run Q1 here and it has been working perfectly after the update). The ESU should be implemented in the order that the installation documentation recommends.

as Altquark says, follow instructions carefully, especially the "back up the F98owsec table FIRST" part.
