Cannot go back to View SPLIT

Hi,
For some reason I connet go back to VIEW by SPLIT. I clicked on main menu and Tag VIEW and chose TREE, but was not able to go back to SPLIT. THis option has been grayed out. Any idea where to remove this restriction?
