Websphere Single Server (revisted) with SP23?

We are upgrading from SP22_F to SP23_C. Currently we are running the 4.0.6 Advanced Single Server (AES) edition of Websphere on Intel on SP22_F. Looks like SP23 does not have an option for the install. Just 4.0 Advanced Edition and 5.0.2.

Anyone know if this will still work? Anyone try this configuration? Run into any problems since it doesn't use a repository?

I am interested in understanding the same questions that have been asked. I have heard that someone has implemented WebSphere 5 on SP_22, however it is not supported by PS. Is it true that IBM is phasing out support for WebSphere 4. Has anyone experienced any issues with upgrading from SP_22 to SP_23 and running WebSphere 5?

I can't speak to your question directly, but I can tell you I have installed SP23 on Websphere 5. The program will not allow you to install unless Websphere is patched to 5.0.2. I can't speak to the WS4 question, but I can tell you it does check the version of Websphere during the install.

We recently did upgraded a client to SP23_C1 with Intel-based Websphere 4.0.2 Advanced Edition and did not have problems getting the install to work (just pick the 4.0 AE option).
However, beware that there are many settings in the jas.ini that will be set back to "out of the box" settings when you install the SP and you will have to look at your original jas.ini to see how you were set up prior to the SP install. We found some new settings in the new jas.ini, some of which were documented and some not, so we found it better to just start with the new jas.ini and put in our custom settings.
It took nearly a week to get everything set back the way it needed to be and to get performance optimized. There is still an issue we have where the calendar function within the applications is not working (JAS only--works fine on fat clients and TS)...no resolution yet from PS.
They "fixed" some calendar-related issues that were introduced in SP22_T1 or U1, and it appears that something else got broken. Best wishes on your upgrade!

We are getting ready to do V5R3 in a couple of weeks...is that why you are doing SP23_C1 (just curious)?

Yes, we are moving to V5R3. We did the SP23_C1 upgrade on our V5R2 box on 8-14-2004. No problems encountered so far on the client side.

We had to go to 4.0.6 Advanced Edition for the web seeing we were not licensed to get 5.0.2 Enterprise, why they require Enterprise on 5.x.x is beyond me. Single Server 4.0 is not supported. So far, we can't get the NERS or Apps to generate and have a call open with Peoplesoft.
