R3483 MRP Date Issue

When running MRP our blanket orders date that seems to be picked up is the original promised. Does anyone know if this can be chnaged to promised delivery. We seem to be locked out of original promised dates on the order maintenance programs. This issue is causing us to delete and re-enter blanket orders to get MRP to give accurate messages.
Thanks for any advice that you can give.
We are MRP newbies so please excuse any lack of understanding that our question may show
