E1 8.9 Footprint

While reading a report on the Quest West conference, I came across a quote indicating that E1 8.9 has a foot print that is 70% larger than XE. Unfortunately, the author did not indicate whether this was on the client(fat), Deployment server, Database server, or Enterprise server. Can anyone clarify this information for each location? Thanks in advance.

That could have been for almost anything, but probably was in reference to the additional data storage overhead. I believe the estimates are in the range you've heard. A full development client takes up approx. 3.5 GB, but I'm not sure if that's 70% larger than what the footprint was in XE.

Remember though, for data storage, during an upgrade, you can decide NOT to convert the BD and CT to unicode, thus reducing the additional overhead for this stage. However, I believe that the intent is still to force all unicode by the 8.10 release.
