8.9 MSDE fun

Now that 8.9 has moved from MS Access to MSDE as the local data store we
have a whole new set of issues. If I install 8.9 (FAT) on a fresh
workstation the install goes fine. However if I install on a workstation
that has other database software (various kinds) installed the MSDE install
fails. So far the oonly quick solution has been to re-ghost the workstation
and then install MSDE and 8.9.

Does anyone have a similar issue? What did you do to resolve it?

There's a known issue installing MSDE on top of an existing MS SQL Server Client Tools installation.

The solution is documented in the ERP9 Installation Guide (search for "RLL").

I know the issue about SQl server and that's not it. These files don't exist on the workstation. Actual the legacy app that blows stuff up is called MAX. If MAX is or every was installed then MSDE installs fail. Quite annoying.

Any other ideas?
