Survey on long MRP Process Times

Hello list !

Usually I'm on the answering end of this question - but I have a customer with a long-running MRP run that I'm trying to use all my usual solutions for, but for some reason I'm hitting a brick wall.

The question I have to ask is - if you're running MRP - could you please answer a couple of very short questions to help with my understanding of what exactly is "fast".

1. Are you running Parallel or Single threaded MRP (do you have multiple subsystems set up in the last tab of the R3483) - if so, how many subsystems ?

2. What architecture do you use (Intel/AS400/Unix etc) - what version of OneWorld and Service Pack ?

3. How many Branch Plants do you have ? What is the proportion of Manufacturing branches versus purely Distribution branches ?

4. How many records do you have in the F4102 (Item Branch File) ? How many levels do you have in your bill of materials ?

5. How far out do you plan ? (Processing Options on the R3483)

6. What are your total counts for F3411, F3412 and F3413 after a Gross Regeneration ?

7. Most important - how long does MRP take !

I think the answers to those questions - if collected amongst everyone, will reveal how well MRP works in OneWorld - and will provide a much greater understanding of how to combat long-running MRP times.

Thankyou in advance.

I'll start with Customer #1 in Texas.

1. Single threaded
2. AS/400 - Model 825 (4 way). OneWorld Xe Update 7 SP18.1G1
3. 25 Branch Plants, 2 of which are Manufacturing plants
4. 3 million
5. 6 months
6. F3411 = 34,160 / F3412 = 9,829 / F3413 = 971,508
7. 8 hours

1. Single threaded
2. Unix HP-UX 11.0. OneWorld Xe Update 1 SP20_E1
3. 1 Branch Plant
4. Approx. 69,000 item branch records
5. 52 weeks
6. F3411 = 1,938 / F3412 = 6,154 / F3413 = 600,172
7. Approx. 1 hour, 15 minutes
