Impromptu is the reporting solution for Cognos. The 2 other main products are
PowerPlay (data cube design and deployment) and DecisionStream (the ETL
tool).
You can purchase Analytic Applications for J.D. Edwards which are prebuilt
DecisionStream builds and Jobstreams. To connect to OneWorld, you just point
the "Source" data source in DecisionStream (and the Analytic Applications
Console which sits on top of DecisionStream) to your OneWorld Business Data,
Control Tables, and System Database DataSources and run the JobStreams. With
an AS/400 Enterprise Server, the connection would be from the server running
DecisionStream to the PRODDTA/PRODCTL/SYS7334 libraries via CAX ODBC.
Executing the builds will populate your Cognos DataMarts with OneWorld data.
From there you can use the sample PowerPlay cubes and Impromptu reports to
retrieve the data from the data mart in response to analytical business
requirements or design your own cubes and reports.
