best OS to use

Hi all,
We are upgrading the ERP8, using Windows & SQL and would like to here from others what versions of windows where used and there experience.

The best version I feel is Windows 2000 - since this is probably the only supported version out there.

What version were you thinking of using ? Windows 2003 is not available yet - nor is it supported, and XP only works for workstations. NT 4.0 is extremely old-hat - and has been surpassed by Win2000 for years now.

If you are thinking of using Server edition or Advanced Server edition - remember there are differences in the amount of memory that each can handle - and remember that SQL Server Enterprise can use more memory than SQL Server Standard (although no other difference is apparent with OneWorld use).

Hope that helps. Give me a call if you need help !

Windows 2003 server is supported on Deployment Server, Enterprise server and Database server. (At least for Xe and ERP8)

Although there are some specific requirements for OW Service Packs (SP22 is needed) etc.

As far as I remember, JDE still does not support Oracle database on W2003 server for Xe.

It's always a good idea to check MTR on knowledge Garden for latest requirements.

Hi all,Es runs on AS400 iseries and deployment tried to run on Windows 2003 Standart Edition. But I can not run busbuild.exe on deployment server.I did all the steps that I found in KG.Has anyone met the same problem before.Because of win2003 standart edition cames with terminal services I can not run busbuild.exe on deployment server

You should also just be able to disable the Terminal Services but
uninstalling them is best and a sure way to know they are not interfering.
Is it that you can't run busbuild.exe or you can't find the compiler on the
system. One of the few times I've seen that is when you neglect to check
the little check box in the C++ installation that says "Register
Environment Variables". If you don't then the system can't find the
compiler during builds.
Good luck!

Gerald.

Can't you put the OWDEVELOPER=TRUE entry in the ini?? This should allow full access to everything (at least it did in XE and ERP8). We are running Terminal Services on our Dep. server and it works great.

Thanks,

You are unable to remove Terminal Services from 2003 Server. The MTR for
2003 Deployment servers tell you to use the OWDEVELOPER=TRUE statement in
the INI. This will enable the Busbuild to work.
