Nowadays is it necessary using WTS with Citrix? What is the advantage?

Better web support.
Better load balancing.
In my opinion the gap is pretty narrow with Windows Server 2003. I would have a hard time justifying Citrix anymore at most installations.

I have read there are performance benefits to using Citrix. Can anyone verify this or to what extent?
