Terry, Is your primary concern V5R2 or attaching your new iseries 400's
to external disk? Are you 720's currently using external DASD?

Primary concern is actually both. V5R2 and the concept of attaching AS400's to external disks are new to us.

Terry, it's bee a while since I've investigated attaching an
AS/400..iseries 400 to a SAN but last time I looked this was not a good idea. DASAD was much more efficient and quicker internally. I've had a lot of customers over the years and have never seen or heard of a client with external DASD on an iseries 400. Would really be helpful if you could speak with IBM about this even if you are thinking EMC disk.

As far as V5R2 goes, I believe (according to past posts) if your 100% current on the MTR's (hardware and software) including the most recent APAR there are only a few minor quirks.
