Migrating Database Hardware Platform.

I'm hoping someone has some comments/experience of moving the JDE database to a different hardward platform.

Currently we're running JDE on an Oracle 8i database, IBM RS/6000 S7A, AIX 4.3 platform and looking to moving this to an Intel based solution.

Anyone care to comment ....

Thx.

I have gone the opposite way, from SQL to Oracle. Our sales guys needed our SQL database in Oracle format on a very short notice for some demo.
My comment would be: use R98403 to copy everything, even it it runs slow. That will take care of all the database differences. You can move your database in parts, no need to move all at the same time. That´s the beauty of CNC.

The tricky part will be to reconfigure your system tables like datasource, OCM, server map, the jde.ini and so on. That can be quite confusing.

Good luck, Gerd

We went from Intel to RS/6000, Same DB (oracle 8i) on both machines and it
was just a question of export from Intel, Import to RS6000. Our DB guy had
to make a few attempts before it was smooth because he didn't know the JDE
schemas very well.

We had a full OW installation on the Intel side and a full and separate OW
installation on the RS6000 side so we didn't have any CNC challenges of
changing datasources or machine names for the DB server.

Regards,
Gerald
