Hi List,

Anyine using windows XP as FAT client.
I am having my Deployment Server on Windows 2000 Server and Esnterprise server on Solaris. And I have mix of Windows 2000 professional and windows XP as FAT clients used by developers.
Now the problem is all the users using Win XP are facing lot of issues like the system hangs or takes a very very long time do a check out, check in or even get compared to Windows 2000 proff.

Any ideas..

This is a known issue with XP Fat clients.
XP has a function called system restore which is turned on by default. It basically backups every file before modifying it. So when you do a check out or a get XP first takes a backup of your entire spec directory which is normally very big..1.5 GB +..so thatz y it hangs

Right click on My Computer and click on the Tab called System Restore and turn off system restore.

Your Get and Check out will work fine now

Hi List,

Thanks for your prompt responces. I have applied your recomendations and users are yet to complain about it.

Thanks.

Same thing happened, it took to long only to open the OMW....Went back to
Win2000 and happiness came back :)

I have had the same issues with XP. I was told to be on SP21. Once you apply that, be sure to apply one-off F1 or you will have printing problems. I still don't have a "warm and fuzzy" feeling for XP, to I have one PC with W2000 for my assebly & build of packages.
