OneWorld on As/400

Hi,

We are upgrading our As/400 to a new 870-8 processors-16 GB memory, 4 partitions. We do not have JD edwards at this moment but are in the process of evaluating oneworld with PDP module as the start. The issue confusing us is that we are told that oneworld on AS/400 is a 32 bit technology and it causes performance problems with 2 Gig limitation for a model. It would be better to put it on Unix, which has 64 bit version of the oneworld. We are upgrading the AS/400 as we have our normal business running and want to protect the investment.

Could someone enlighten us?

Thanks

I am pretty sure that OneWorld/ERP8 on UNIX is also 32 bit, despite running on 64bit capable UNIX platforms. What gave you the idea it wasn't?

schandler,

We are running OW on a 840 - 12-way (9 active) the the moment. We have 32G (30 used) currently. The AS/400 is a NATIVE 64-bit machine. Since OW is compiled on an AS/400 it would be 64 bit also.

We are currently running 600 concurrent users using Citrix and the W environments. We run 73K batch (UBE0 jobs a week.

We use all OW modules except HRM.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info guys, it is very helpful. About the restrictions of memory on AS/400 versus Unix, it was coming from the JD Edwards.

All the 32 bit limit means is that you can only use 4GB of memory PER PROCESS. So, it really shouldn't be an issue, you should be able to use your memory.

Thanks that makes things a lot clearer. We need to ensure we size the machine correctly to handle performance.
