Purge & Archive Process

Hi Guys,
I am looking for ways to purge and archive financial, manufacturing
and distribution modules. There do exist UBEs and programs that do that in
each module but some do not have the option of archive. Has anyone tried
coming up with a process? Any advice will be helpful. I looked up KG but it
was not much help. Also I believe if I am correct, they are updating or
giving a new look to KG, which basically has screwed the documents and
search options.
I would appreciate any help in this regard.
Thanks in advance.
Manish

Re: Purge & Archive Process

JDE is using business partners to create purge/archive solutions. ARC/Tools, iTera are the As/400 partners. You did not give your configuration, but if you are not AS/400 based, you can find these solutions on the knowledge garden.

If you are co-existent, the World financial purges all have archive options. It's a cumbersome process for financials, summarizing then purging.

Re: Purge & Archive Process

We haven't done any archiving yet, but we have done purging.

We have a few jobs that were created by a consultant to purge a few of the tables via JDE. We also have to job that are set up via job scheduler in SQL to purge data older than x-amount days. We based this on the fact it was quicker to use SQL. We found we could purge a few hundred thousand records in under 10 mins. Having it set up to do look for older records once every week makes the jobs run quicker. We also have did a clean up process by truncating tables as well to blow away all data in a table without logging. That only takes seconds for any size table.
