Hello List!

A question for anyone who has faced the same problem..

Oracle 8.1.7.0 32 bit Enterprise Editionwas installed on Sun Solaris 8 64 bit OS.
Q: Has anyone experienced any problems with this configuration?

On applying the Oracle DB patch 8.1.7.4, was it necessary to apply either the 32 bit or 64 bit version onto Oracle 8.1.7.0 (32 bit) base?

Many thanks in advance for the tips.

Cheers;
/Philip

We are running 64 bit Oracle on 64 bit Solaris but you should not have any problems running the 32 bit version of Oracle. If you are running the 32 bit version you must install the 32 bit patches.

Hi DaveHale,

Thanks for the info.

One more question:
Does the 64 to 32 bit runtime transformation incure a performance hit?
I assume its always better to run a 64 bit DB on a 64 bit OS.

Thanks,
/Porup
