Hi
Just a quick Poll about using a remote server and data replication

We currently have a site in Japan and are using Citrix over a WAN T1 connection. We are getting complaints on response times. We are looking into installing a local server there and using Data Replication.

My first question is anyone doing this?

2. What would be the worst drawback?

3. What is the most beneficial?

4. If you are using what sort of support system do you have Locally?

5. Other recommendations:

Thanks for your input.

Take a look at the document "Implementing Workgroup Servers for OneWorld" on
the KG. It should answer most of your questions. It's a pretty good "fit"
for the remote site.

One note on that comment about replication. Are you going to be doing this
through the database? At Quest Global Conference, they stated that data
replication in ERP9 is not supported/discontinued..
We are using Citrix over the equivalent of a T1 as well to European
countries and have not had any issues with response times. Before jumping
into a kettle with replication, have you verified your Citrix configuration?
One 'gotcha' that I encountered with my previous employer was that the
bit-depth was set at 24bit, stopping it down to 16 colors (4bit) increased
the speed dramatically..little things like that make a larger impact than
you would expect.

We have users logging into our citrix server farm from Japan. Besides other things, one of our major performance improvement came from virus scan exclusions and stopping virus scan to scan outbound files.

Hi Thomas,

Do have a document number? I am not finding anything by searching on
the name.
Thanks
