Dear friend I have very urgent and big problem and I need your Help please

My Data Base is Microsoft SQL 7.0

My problem that the HDD in my Two server damage due to the suddenly electricity increasing so all the HDD damage

After OneWorld XE Setup immediately I have the following Backups

1- Windows System State Backup on the 2 JDE servers (Deployment & Enterprise)

2- Registry Backup also on the 2 JDE servers (Deployment & Enterprise)

3- Full Backup for OneWorld Folder (D:\OneWorld) on the Deployment Server + the JDE Files on the Windows Drive
(C :\)

4- Full Backup for the B7 Folder (D:\B7) on the Enterprise server + the JDE Files on the Windows Drive
(C :\)

5- Backup JDEB7333 Data Base

6- I have Backup for the 2 Production Environment Data Base one Day before the HDD Failer

So please I need your Advised for the Restore steps & Sequence, I have bought new HDD for the 2 server and I installed the Windows 2000 and SQL 7.0 and all the software

Note:-

-From the beginning of the OneWorld Setup I don’t had and development on the JDE System

-The Backup I talked from number 1 to 4 after the OneWorld setup and the Environment Setup (Address Book & Chart of Accounts …………. )

David :

I would do the following :

a) To restore Enterprise

* Install OS on the server (same release, language, Service Pack, MDAC and
Internet Explorer) on the same partitions and folders than original
installation
* Install SQL on the server (same release, Service Pack, language, folders,
and settings than original installation), client settings = originals
* Install C++ on the server (same release, Service Pack, folders, and
settings than original installation), verify that environment variables are
created
* If you had Adobe Reader on the server, install it again
* Put SQL on single user mode and restore MASTER database
* Put SQL back on multi user mode
* Restore the other databases (MSDB, MODEL, PUBS, NORTHWIND, JDE*)
* Restore or re-type ODBC entries
* Restore your d:\jdedwardsoneworld\ddp\b7333 folders
* Run [jdesque -i] and [jdesnet -i] to recreate JDE services
* Set JDE services accounts
* Boot and try PORTTEST or RUNBATCH

b) To restore Deployment

* Install OS on the server (same release, language, Service Pack, MDAC and
Internet Explorer) on the same partitions and folders than original
installation
* Install client SQL on the server (same Service Pack, language, folders,
and settings than original installation), check client settings to be the
same as the originals
* Install C++ on the server (same Service Pack, language, folders, and
settings than original installation), verify that environment variables are
created
* Install Adobe Reader again (same release and language)
* Restore d:\jdedwardsoneworld\b7333 folders
* Restore c:\jde*.* files
* Restore c:\winnt\jde.ini file
* Restore System State

Best Regards, Sebastian Sajaroff

Dear SSAJAROFF

Thanks for your v.good advice

I need two point to discussed with

1- you didn't Mention in your reply to restore system state for the Enterprise Server ,so there is no need for it?

2- in the Deployment server you Mention to restore the system state the last steps so this is ok or I have to install after the reinstallation of OS + the application ?

Thanks million my friend for your help

Hi David :

You're welcome!
In the Enterprise, it's not necessary to restore System State, the only
Registry keys you need are :
a) ODBC Entries (easy to recreate)
b) JDE Services (you recreate them by using jdesque -i and jdesnet -i)

You only need to restore System State on your Enterprise if it is working as
a DC (Domain Controller Windows 2000), Certificate Server, etc.
I suppose that your Enterprise server is a dedicated one!

In the Deployment, I have tested both ways : to restore System State just
after OS (I mean : OS+Service Pack+MDAC+IE) or as the last step.
Both worked fine.
