WAS 3.5 support ends June 1, 2003

Here's the link that states the well known fact that JDE will stop supporting
IBM Websphere 3.5 except for CRM starting June 1, 2003.

https://knowledge.jdedwards.com/jdecontent/CUCSFlash/Flash/gsstf-02-0492.htm

Based upon what I've heard, the current option is to purchase the JDE
Technology Foundation for approx $40K which would provide licenses for
unlimited number of servers in an organization. Is this correct?

Has anyone justified this capital outlay for what functionally amounts to an
upgrade from 3.5 to 4.0 for most sites? Anyone know what the pricing plans
are for the future move from 4.0 to 5.0?

Anyone considering moving from Websphere to Citrix or fat clients rather than
stay the JAS course?

TIA

I don't want to be the unofficial advocate for the Technology Foundation but YES, this is the best way to go. The licensing is unlimited FOR JDEDWARDS applications and some third party applications.

The Technology Foundation includes Websphere application Server 4.0.1, Websphere Portal Server Extend and DB2 UDB 7.2. When you get the Tech Foundation you get about 50 CD's of IBM STUFF (Lotus Workplace, Domino, etc.)

If you buy the Tech Foundation then you need to pay maintenance on the products you use, which will include to upgrade from WAS4.0 to WAS5.0.

I think more and more people will move to JAS rather than move to Citrix.
