Copule of basic Question?

Hello Friends,
it would be very kind of you to help me by answering a few basic Question..
1) For Product Packaging do the Source and Target Environment need to be at the same level i.e. Same set of Planner ESU's and SP level and particularly SP's on-off too?
2) Do we need to apply the Planner ESU to all the Environments i.e. DV, PY/TS, PD and JD.
I am working on ERP 8 (JE2842 and SP21 SP21_E1) ES is Solaris with Oracle as database.
Thanks you

Sunny,
1) I don't think the target has to have the exact same SP and/or update
level as the source. Remember, product packaging is to transport custom
objects. This way you should not be overlaying original JDE objects with
older ones. Technically PP is not different from an ASU or ESU. These two
may require a minimum SP level, but not in the sense you asked.
2) Planner ESUs are for fixes that the deployment server needs. However, for
compatibility between the environments it is recomended to apply planner
ESUs to all pathcodes.

Thanks, Gerd

Re: RE: Copule of basic Question?

Thanks Gred. It actually helps me in a way to narrow down to a problem area.
The problem I am talking about is
I have a product package from our client which consists of some odd 75 objects including various object types. Upon extratacting the pp.exe it goes through smooth. I then move on to ASU application and try to apply it to my DV environment. It just runs for some time and runs R96701 and give the report saying most of the object have been selected to be applied but none of the object have been applied. As per KG it could have the problem with location in plan created for the pp, but again unfortunetly its not so. Even the logs are clean.
Yet to my surprise, when I try to apply it on my PY environment it merges UDC,Spec and TC but not DD items..

Any ideas..
