AS/400 printing issue

Hello List,
I have this AS/400 printing problem: we have a Hitachi high volume printer
with its special drivers installed on a network server. An outq was created
on AS/400 where Internet address is IP address of the server and Remote
system is the Printer Share name. THIS SETUP USED TO WORK UNTIL ONE FINE
DAY! The printed output would drop into the outq and would be stuck there
in the SND status. I tried all kinds setups - changing between PCL and PS,
changing outq to point to different share names - with no luck. Here is the
current situation: You can print to this server\printer from a PC
application and you can ping the server from AS/400. You cannot print from
AS/400 to server\printer. Has anyone been in this situation?

If the printer is configured with DHCP, it may have a new IP address. Since windows printing looks up the host by host name to resolve the IP address, this isn't a problem. Because your 400 is referencing the IP address directly, you are out of luck if a DHCP printer changes its address. The config pages on the printer should tell you the address if it has changed.

Verify the queue name on the server still matches the Remote Printer Queue (RMTPRTQ) in the outque configuration on the AS/400.

You probably have tried this but ENDWTR quename *IMMED and restart the outque on the AS/400.

Verify Unix Print Services on the Win server is loaded and still working.

More drastic, delete the AS/400 outque and recreate.
