Posting Date not changed until Enterprise Server reset?

We have 7332 with Oracle 8.1.7, the Enterprise Server (ES) on an RS6000/AIX 4.3 and the Deployment Server (DS) on Windows 2000.

The client has noticed that when he changes the GL Posting date on a workstation, the GL Posting date doe not change for the Enterprise Server until the services on the ES are stopped and restarted.

I would have thought that the GL Posting date is in the database, not a Spec, so any change would be immediate.

Has anyone seen this before?

I do not understand what you mean when you say the user changes the GL Posting Date, how does the user do this? The GL date is nothing more than todays date or a date that you enter on a specific transaction, the system will always default in todays date as the GL Date.
Are you referring to the closing of a period?
