Hi allen,
hope you could help me in this. I have installed Oneworld Xe, sp 13
Depl server - windows 2k
enter server - windows 2k, database - sql 2000

i have got update 6 cd. i dont have any previously updates.
Is there any special instruction to be folllowed to update 6.

regards
sathya

Hi Saytha,
Yes, there are *many* Special instructions. Look on the CD. There should be an HTML file called XU6.htm. There will be a link to "Special Instructions". There is also a version of this document on the Knowledge Garden which is categorized by modules used (Financials, etc). I would suggest using the KG doc, as it may cut down on your work if you are not implementing all modules.

Expect about 8 hours of work on the Special Instructions. You absolutely must do the special instructions or the Update will fail.

One other thing-- when you take the Update 6 in Spec Merge, *don't* leave the backup box checked. It won't work anyway and will add about 7 hours to the process. You can monitor Spec Merge status in the P98700.

Hi,

I have installed Update 6 many times. The approach I normally follow is -

- Install latest planner update. Carry out the special instructions.

- Install Update 6

- There are some basic 'special instructions' you need to follow from a technical perspective having installed Update 6 PRIOR to building a full package build (Steps 1 and 2 in the 'After Applying Update . Carry these out and then do a full package build.

- With regards to the remaining 'special instructions', these would normally be looked at/carried out by Applications type people. It is not necessary to carry out all of these , if you are not running the particular module.

Hope this helps.

Hi SKH
Can you please tell me normally how much time it (Update
6)takes to finish the process .
We are using Xe Oneworld with SP20 in Winnt /SQL 2000 server. Yesterday we
started update6 .Still it is running
(24 hours completed ). We deploy the Update 6 to Both DV & PY Environtment
with Backup option.

How we know it is progress ? Or Still we have to wait for the Pdf Report.

Please Share your Knowledge.

Thanks & Regards
Sasi

Hi Sasi,

Firstly from your email it looks like you selected the 'backup' option. This is probably the reason you are having this problem - JDE recommend you DO NOT have backup selected before you apply Update 6. I would re-start the process on your system again (without backup option selected). Make sure you have your own full backup of Dep Server/Ent Server prior to applying Update 6.

If you don't have backup selected, it normally takes up to half an hour to get to the first set of 'merges'. The longest part of the update will be the Specification Merge job. This ran for over 24 hours at one site I worked at - at another site it ran for 8 hours.

Another comment I would make is that if you have not applied update 6 before to your system, it may be better to apply this to DV7333 only initially. Once it has been applied successfully and you are happy, then apply to PY7333.

Hope this helps.

Hi SKH
Thanks a lot. You are correct first time we selected the
Backup option .Then we killed the process and ran the Update 6 without
Backup option selected . Completed sucessfully. We deployed it for
PY7333.It's also completed normally. Now when we started the Special
Instructions we struck with "SAR #5072839" Where we have to run a table
conversion R894575 and R894576 . We Followed the Steps given by JDE . At
Step
After we Checked out the Table We were not able to generate the Table.
Also We are not able to Check-in these tables.

See , Using design mode we conform that there was no columns inside that
table. But in Enterprise Server we can able to see the Columns . What we
suspect is TAM Spec is missing in Deployment . Is it Correct.

Can you help us to Resolve this Issue.

Awaiting your reply
Kind Regards
Sasi
