Hi guys,
Can anyone give me some comparisons of Windows Terminal Services vs Citrix XP in the JDE environment?
I'm being asked to justify the additional cost of Citrix.

Thanks,
Si

If the bean counters were smart, they'd ask you to justify Citrix to
WAS/JAS, as that is the future of OneWorld when you venture into the ERP
9 and beyond realm.

Both Microsoft and Citrix have whitepapers on their web sites that tout
the advantages of each.

Simon,

I'd say Citrix is superior to W2K TS in the following areas:
* better at load balancing several servers
* better management tools (eg: in publishing and controlling access to apps).
* more secure remote access (across the internet) (NFuse and Citeix Secure Gateway tunnels ICA within an SSL session, so only the one application session is mapped through the firewall, rather than the whole PC through a VPN connection)
* ICA performs 20-30% better than RDP

Use W2K TS rather than Citrix where:
* dynamic load balancing is not a problem
* publishing individual applications is not required
* you are concerned about the cost of licenses

Hope this helps,
Mark Suters
