Oracle 9I or 9I RAC

Hello,
I was interested to check with the group two things -

1) Is anone out there currently using Oracle 9I in production?
2) Is anyone considering using Oracle 9I RAC (Real Application Cluster)?

We are certainly moving from Oracle 8I - 9I, and are considering moving then to RAC, but I wanted to get feedback from anyone out there if they have done either of these moves and get any issues you experienced.

Regards,

Stuart

Stuart,

Have you upgraded to 9i yet? Did you run into any gotchas? We are looking to do the same thing, including RAC.

Thanks!

Dan,
We did install Oracle 9I (9.2). The only thing to remember is that you need to change the JDB drivers in three places - the Database Datasources, the server jde.ini and the client jde.ini. This should be changed (for us) from JDBOCI81.DLL to JDBOCI90.DLL

We reviewed RAC very carefully and we found it to not be worth our while. If you are licensed by processor you should realize that you need to license every processor in every node rather that one server only. If you are licensed by named user then you will be fine.

Hi Dan,
We have upgraded to Oracle 9.2.0.1 and then applied patchset 9.2.0.3
immediately after the database upgrade. We have had no problems. Make
sure that customised parameters in the old initilization file are
checked for validity and make modifications to the new init file if
necessary.
