We have had some success moving columns around and changing columnd widths
etc but it is very hit & miss.

Re: CSV & PDF\'s

Start by changing your horizontal spacing to 52. Next align all of your columns with the grid lines in report design. Column overlap is not a problem as Excel will still read all info. This may not look appealing in PDF format, so you may want to consider setting up different versions for PDF vs CSV output. I read somewhere that this issue may be fixed by SP20, but cannot confirm this.

Good luck.
