Printer Drivers - Ctirix Memory Errors

Has anyone ever experienced a relationship between 5SI print drivers and "referenced memory error" in Citrix?

Thanks!

Kent,

We had lots of problems with 'drop outs' initially and we have sorted out most of these by looking at printer drivers. Go to www.printingsupport.com

We reckon problems arose from some deskjet drivers, postscript driver and a specfic driver for an 8150. We do have a couple of 5si printers but couldn't be certain about those.

Regards

Make certain you only use certified print drivers with Citrix/Terminal Server. Through experience I have found you can only trust the drivers that shipped with Windows 2000/NT TSE on a Citrix server.

Make sure to load printer drivers only from trusted sources. For that, you can defined a share where you install your driver into.
This avoids the dangerous upload of printer driver from clients to the server.

We use a product called UniPrint that basically lets you bypass the print drivers on the Citrix servers. I am not sure how much it costs but it has helped us out immensely because our field offices have too many different kinds of printers for us to support. Thanks!

Did your "drop outs" happen only when the user tried to print?

No, it happens when they are simply closing out of forms and IVs. It has
nothing to do with printing.
Thanks.

Hi Melissa

I like the look of this. One question though - what version of Citrix are you using - doesn't Metaframe XP address this nowadays ?

Yes

I saw this at one customer. Replaced the driver with an updated one from HP and issue went away from what I can remember...
