I just downloaded JD17626. Is it better to APPLY planner ESU's to each
environment or promote them through OMW? and Why?

Hi Libbi

We applied Planner ESU JD17626 last week and applied it direct to DV and JD
but used OMW for PY and PD.

We didn't have any problems except that by using the OMW you can't see what
environment have the ESU when looking at
the Software Updates (P96470).

I guess both the option works equally well, but I think applying anyESu is much faster when applied directly compared to the promotion path.

Happy CNC'ing

I usually apply the ESU to each pathcode, as there are often conversions that are ran when you apply the ESU. This is not the case if the ESU is just promoted.

Best practice is to apply all ESUs on subsequent environments directly, disable the spec merge on the plan and perform this using OMW instead. There is a doc on KG detailing this procedure.
We used to apply ESUs and ASUs directly to all environments but ran into BIG problems - we applied XU6 and then JD17626 to DV. When we subsequently applied JD17626 to PY changes JD17626 made to the OL got overwritten by changes by XU6.

do you know the number of this document on KG? I can't seem to locate true
Planner Install instructions other than make a backup before. Thanx.

Re: RE: planner ESU

The document id is OTM-01-0063.
It applies to all ESUs including (I believe) planner ESUs.
