Moving OneWorld to a new Enterprise Server

We want to move our JDE installation to another enterprise server. We are currently running OneWorld on a Sun3000 server w/Oracle. We are moving the install to a Sun 3500 with the same version of Oracle. I believe that as long as we keep the directory structure the same, and setup an alias name on the new server that reflects the old server’s name, we should not have a problem. Our Deployment server is staying on its current hardware. Is this the way to go?...

Changing an enterprise server or the name of an enterprise server affects
many areas, not the least of which is the database.

There are several system tables that are populated with the machine name of
the enterprise server. I am not sure if a DNS alias will remedy all those
references or not... it may look at the hostname of the machine.

There is an article on KG about changing out ent servers. I think the
cleaner way entails updating appropriate tables in the db. Might save some
pain later on.

Thanks Tony. I tried searching the Knowledge Jungle for the document with no success. JDE finally called me back with the document number OTI-01-0083. So I have the document now. Thanks again.
