HTTP vs IIS on NT/W2K

Hi,
according to the JAS SP20 installation manual it seems possible to make JAS
work with websphere in conjunction with IBM HTTP server on a windows server.
Prior to that, to my knowledge, it had only been possible with Microsoft
IIS.
Has anyone installed JAS on NT with HTTP instead of IIS? Any issues? Any
benefits?
How could I change an already existing installation for JAS to use IBM-HTTP
instead of MS-IIS short of reinstalling Websphere?

Thanks, for any ideas.

Don't know what the steps to take to change, but I just installed a
client on XE with SP20 utilizing IBM's HTTP server and it works sweetly!!

You are correct...prior to this SP you needed IIS.

The benefits I see now are in the long run...with ERP 9.0 and beyond
moving more and more to utilizing IBM/Lotus products...the sooner you go
that way the better if you plan on upgrading your installation.

After a recent test installation of ERP 9.0, JD Edwards is moving towards
incorporating all of the Technology Foundation into OneWorld...it will
scrap it's own security model to use LDAP...and though Domino isn't
required in ERP 9.0...suggestion would be...learn it, live it, love
it....along with WebSphere.

From the looks of it...to support ongoing OneWorld installations you'll
need a CNC person to be adept with OW, WebSphere, Domino, and LDAP...at
the least.

Then again...I could be wrong...

We're running the SP22 beta code on IBM HTTP since there was a very strong indication from JDE of the need to do it this way. Our live system is WebSphere 3.5 and IIS.

It should be possible to make the transition reasonably painlessly because there seems to be a degree of separation between WebSphere config and the HTTP server (IIS or IBM) such that WebSphere is essentially ignorant of what its running with. We however ended up doing a new install of WebSphere because we were going from 3.5 to 4.0.

We migrated from IIS to IBM HTTP server when going from SP18 to SP20. SP20 is a complete re-install so we redid our configuration from scratch. Personally I would go for the complete re-install if possible.
