Find an promo item in Advanced Pricing

Hi Everyone,

I have an easy question but I fear the response will be complicated.

I have an item number and need to know if there are any promotions being given for this item or its group etc. Our goal is to prioritize warehouse operations (putaway locations etc..) for items that will turnover fast do to the promotions.

Any easy way to do this (ie current report, application, business function or other)... I fear that with the complexity of advanced pricing that this will be a brutal report to build.
Thanks
Sean

Depends how you are tracking promotions. Some clients will use a preference
to drive a value into the F4211 and pricing drives off that preferenced
result. Others pick a field in the F4211 to drive promotions without using
a preference.

Others will just setup an adjustment for a particular item group. If I were
reading the F4211 to find promotions in that case, I would go to the F4074 -
Price History and look for the promotion adjustment name.

There may be other scenarios that are more complicated...it all depends on
how the adjustment is setup. Tell us more about that and I can possibly
help more.

Re: RE: Find an promo item in Advanced Pricing

I need to know if there will be a promotion before the sales order is entered.

In other words without entering an order how can I determine if a specific item or an item belonging to a group or complex item group (Cat Codes) will activate an adjustment in F4072.

I'm writing a report for items recieved on a PO I need to flag those items that have an associated price adjustment.

Thanks

Hi Sean!
This maybe one for AndyK - but why not use an order group (say price group OGPC) to drive the pricing. This would be entered against the sales line (with a format override to make life easier) and so then would be made available to pick requests etc.

What do you think Andy?

Best regards

Peter

Thanks Peter,

I guess my request is not clear. I don`t need to know how to configure advanced pricing. All my promotions are already setup and working well. But if someone asks me if item #210 is going to be involved in an upcoming promotion how do I answer them?

I would have to look through all promotions that use item category code groups determine which category codes are being used in the promo and see if any match the category code of my item #210. With all the possible combinations of category codes this seems close to impossible

Thanks for your help.

Hmm Sean,
I think you might have to use a modified version of the price enquiry (P41261 for standard or P4074 for advanced). But I think I'd need some more detail on how you have set up promotions etc.
1) What type of pricing are you using base/advanced
2) What preferences effect pricing.
3) anything else you can think of!

Best regards

Peter

Sean,

You are right - it is complicated - but only if you want to make it cover
every possible permutation that your users could throw at Advanced Pricing.
Typically most sites have a limited number of scenarios for any specific
adjustment and coding your report to interrogate the F4072/F4094 files for
your specific Promotion scenarios might not be that bad.

Another alternative is to get your program to initiate the standard advanced
pricing BSFN using your Item Number and "Sample Customers" and then review
the F40UI74 records written by this BSFN for any Promo Adjustments. Sort of
a programmatic Check Price and Availability (see P4074 for hints on how to
initiate this Price build). This of course might be ugly if you have varying
Customer based rules on your promotions which would force you to initiate
this call multiple times.

Hope this gives you some starters. Good luck.
