Rebooting deployment server

Do I need to shut down One World services on my enterprise server (AS400) when I reboot the deployment server? I need to apply the latest Client Access service pack to the deployment server because we just upgraded the AS400 to V5R1.

Thanks

No, but there are a couple of things to watch for...

1. Make sure if Central Objects are on the DS no one is doing
development (checking in / checking out).
2. In a JITI environment, make sure everyone has their applications or
else they'll be trying to get them from the DS. I usually only have to
check the development team because all the production people should have
their apps.
3. Make sure no clients are trying to install update packages the same
time you bring it down.

Hi Tom,

your E.S. and your clients can stay up while you reboot your DS.
The only potential impact is to clients who try to load an update package while your DS is down, also if your media objects are located on your DS they will be unavailable during the downtime.

Regards,

As long as the reboot is quick there should not be a lot of impact.

You should of course let people know it is going to happen. Developers could be impacted if they try to check in business functions and related objects while you are rebooting. Also further to Larry Jones' comments -- some applications search for media objects automatically and I have found that if the media objects live on the deployment server and it is down, these applications will appear to freeze for a period of time trying to connect to the server. This occurs whether or not you are actually using media objects.
