Installing deployment server on NAS

We like to install a new deployment server Xe onm a server.
The actual software should be stored on a NAS.
We have created a share to the NAS and try to install the software. OneWordld does not allow you to choose the share name for installing the software.
Has someone done this before??

Eric :

OneWorld (as far as I know) requires software to be located on local disks
or on disks that may seem to the OS as local.
You can't (easily) change share name B7333 because it's hardcoded on lot of
different INIs and tables.
I recommend you to leave B7333 share name as is.

Hello,

This is possible. However, I would only recommend doing this on a new install. Existing installs are very tricky and time consuming to change everything over. That and the chance for errors is much higher.

We use NetApp filers here and we started to go through this process on an existing install. We had to stop because we found it was going to cause too much down time and too high a risk. That and the process that we got from JDE was based on B7332, not XE. Not exactly comforting. :)

If you want to do this, open a call with JDE and ask them for the instructions. JDE and NetApp went through and documented the install process for JDE. Like I said earlier though, the process was documented for B7332.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. :)

We tested the Deployment server on a NAS and had the same issue with the install. There is a JDE document which states that only the Pathcode directories (can copy) are on the NAS and the remainder is local. After the pathcodes are copied to the NAS, use the PathCode application to map each pathcode to the NAS.

We backout of this solution, since the package build performance went down by 20%, even with a gig switch and direct connection between the server and the NAS.
