hAS ANY BODY TRIED TO IMPLEMENT THE FOLLWING.

hAVING TWO DATABASE SERVER ( ONE FOR PRODUCTION AND ONE FOR dv AND crp) . THEN HAVE THE pDROUCTION SERVER ACT AS ent SERVER AND THE OTHER SHOULD ALSO BE ABLE TO ACT AS aPP SERVER. i WOULD APPRECIATE ANY THOUGHT ON THIS. i AM PRETTY SURE THIS IS DOABLE AND HAVE AN IDEA ON IT BUT WOULD APPRECIATE ANY THOUGHT ON ALL THE GOTCHA'S IN IMPLEMENTING SOMETHING LIKE THIS

It is do able. We currently have two enterprise servers. One runs production
the other prototype. To make life easier we have only one Data Dictionary
and Security Server (this is the Production Enterprise), but we have run
them completely stand alone in the past. There used to be a White Paper on
the knowledge garden, on this subject.

OW733.3 Xe SP 14.2
Enterprise Server - Intel NT + Oracle 8.0.6
Client - Citrix TSE + 4 NT PC's for development

This is doable...just define both as enterprise servers, and utilize OCM
mappings to send whatever you want to the application server.

If you wish to keep production separate from DEV and CRP...that's doable
as well, but you'd need to set up a machine that could transfer objects
between the two as well as DD items, etc.. The enterprise servers would
need to have different port addresses, and you'd need to contact JDE
contract department regarding licencing issues...but I've created that
set up previously, so I know it works.

RE: RE: TWO DATABASE SERVER FOR xe

Sorry I can't find it now - we set this up over a year ago, so I no longer
have the printed copy, I can't find it on the knowledge garden.

Try asking JDE Help Desk, they might be able to dig it out for you.
