HTSUS and Country Of Origin

Is there any way to store the HTSUS code and country of origin for our components in XE Update 4?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Bob

Hi Bob!

The country of origin can be found on the b/pl record - or if it is the
"original country of origin" look under the intrastat (EU intracountry
trading....) setup menus (G74STAT I think) where you can enter CoO
information as well as other bits.

I have not come across the HTSUS term before - what is it?

Best regards

Peter

Re: RE: HTSUS and Country Of Origin

Peter:
Thanks for the information and getting me to do some research on the HTSUS. The HTSUS is the Harmonized Tariff Schedule(HTS) of the United States.

I understand that the HTS codes are common to all countries that subscribe to the HTS. According to Gatti Associates, subscribing countries include Algeria, Argentina, Australia, China, Cuba, the UK, the US, Thailand, and too many other countries to list.

We need to store the first 6 digits of the HTS, so we can print it onto our documentation for Customs in the importing and exporting countries. For example: 3915.10 would refer to "Waste, parings and scrap, of plastics: Of polymers of ethylene" in all countries that subscribe to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.

With this many countries subscribing to HTS and JDE being used around the world, I'm hoping JDE can store this information.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I'm sure you could use a Category code to store the information. There are plenty of customer-driver category codes that can be accessed through a user defined code that you set up.

Is there anything that you need oneworld to process based on the information on these codes - for example, would you need shipping costs increased based on certain type of Tariff Schedules ?

RE: RE: HTSUS and Country Of Origin

Bob,
This is sounding very, very similar to the Intrastat requirements for
Europe. Take a look at this as the commodity code is used as a link to the
Intrastat code (an 8-10 digit number) which is printed on the delivery note.
There are periodic reports which go back to the local tax authority (H.M.
Customs and Excise in our case).

Just as a footnote, the documents that come out of JDE are not suitable for
"handing over" to a freight forwarder and will need some work - even the
ones that come out of transportation.

Since I have just completed work in this area (Inco term, mode of transport
etc through to Intrastat) if you need any more help let me know!

Best regards

Peter

RE: RE: HTSUS and Country Of Origin

I think you are talking about Harmonized Codes set up by the WTO or some
other international trade Organization. I am pretty sure, it is not
maintain in JDEDWARDS.

If you are planning to store costs associated with these codes, you might
want to configure Landed cost P41291 table to store these codes and the cost
associated with it.
