RES: Update 6 Install Problem

Slap, I have seen this before in two different situations.

1. Security was turned OFF in the DS's jde.ini. I logged into the planner
with JDE and mistyped the password, which was supposed to be JDE as well. As
there is no password checking and the planner (Access) Database does not
require a password all goes well (even with the wrong password) until the
workbench tries to connect to the Oracle database.

2. Security turned ON on the DS. The workbench needs to connect with the
actual table owner when creating tables in the different datasources. As
security is turned on, it will connect with jde instead off testdta to the
Business Data - Test and the table/index creation might fail.

The fact that the Password screen keeps popping up may not be because of a
wrong login/password, but it keeps connecting over and over again.

Hope this helped, Gerd

Assunto: Update 6 Install Problem

We have recently moved to SP19.1 in order install update 6 on OneWorld Xe.
We have also created a new environment identical to production with the
database for this new environment having the exact same user and password as
the other databases and being identical to what is set up as the system user
and password in JDE. This environment is to be a test environment only for
Update 6 before we move on to the regular development environment.

I followed the special instructions and regular instructions precisely and
keep getting hung up on the same problem. During the course of the
installation from JDEPLAN, I get prompted for the user and password for the
Production database(We are using Oracle here). I enter that and it
proceeds. In attended workbench mode (I have tried attended and unattended
and come up with the same results) When it gets to the table conversion
portion, I select convert all and a prompt comes up for the environment I am
applying this to for the us!
er and password. This is the exact same user and password as the production
one, but it will not accept the correct user and password. It just keeps
prompting for the user and password. In the jde.log, it gives me the
error:

ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

Trying this out on SQL Plus on this same box, that user and password for
database is accepted.

Does anyone understand why that elsewhere in OneWorld, JDE can access this
database, but only during the installation of Update 6, the user and
password do not work for this environment?
