Urgent! can not print in OW B7322

Hi.

I am using OW B7322 with SP 12.1 in Win NT 4.0 , SQL 7.0 environment. We are
using Compaq server running for 3 years w/o any problem. recently we are
moving to a new server, a new compaq server. the installation is excatly as
we did three years ago. but we can not print, the debug log shows that "can
not contact printer", we have checked the printer in JDE, in Win NT.
everything is fine. but the problem will comes out when generating reports
in Server. enquiry is OK.

is there any one know about the solution? maybe we missed one step in setup.
we did put in the IIS 3.0, Acrobe reader 3.01, VC++ 6.0 .

Hi Sunny!

A few questions :

Have you installed your former printers on the Control Panel of your server?
Does JDE Domain user have printing rights on them? (I assume that JDE
services are running
with JDE domain account)

Hi Sunny

Long time since we chatted last !

Check the printer name exactly - it is case dependent. I would also strongly recommend NOT using any spaces in describing the printer.
 
Log int to the same account that the jde services are running as.

Take a text file with one word in it, like "test" in text.txt

from your NT command line in the directory where the file is, type:
copy test.txt \\printerServerName\printerShareName
if it fails for reasons of not being able to attach to the print queue for security / domain /networking reasons, then fix this first.

Note that if you have a PostScript printer, and you get this test to the printer, nothing will come out. If you have a PCL printer, hitting offline and formfeed should eject a page with "test" on it.

If you CAN get the file to the queue, but jde still can't see it, perhaps you should enter a call with JDE?
